No, I haven't left yet, thanks for asking, but this trip has not already been without it's drama. Anyone who has spoken to me in the last 48 hours knows I've been freaking out about my less than user-friendly flight plane. In short, today I was to hop a 4:00 plan from DCA to Raleigh, after which I'd have a short turn around time with which to catch my flight into London. Any delays in DC would jeopardize making this flight, and missing it was not an option since I have a separate flight to catch at Heathrow to meet up with a couple of ho-bags in Espana.
So naturally, a nasty storm system picked today to move through the mid-Atlantic region
Thankfully, I used my brain and worked the American Airlines system in order to get on an earlier flight to RDU. I highly recommend calling customer service at 1 am, because they pick the phone up right on up, the guy sounded dead sexy, and I may have a date for when I return. $50 For peace of mind = money well spent.
This morning I got up early to go to the office and finish a few things. I got put the door with all my stuff, and half way to work on the bus when I realized...I didn't have my camera. Though I fleetingly thought I could get by with just the old iPhone, I screamed an obscenity, got off the bus and went back home. So to summarize, I was a sweaty disgusting mess who hadn't gone anywhere.
I made it to Raleigh on a small jumper plane that wa 70% Asian. Asians love North Carolina. As I started my four hour layover I found myself wondering why airport bars never have happy hour. Well I was wrong. I found a wine bar with half priced burgers til 2. Booya, things have started to look up!
The time here in the airport has flown by thanks in large part to a nice phone chat with my favorite birthday girl Sassypants, and to the game Life that I downloaded to my phone. I have learned that I make way better decisions in the game of Life than I do in actual life. I've also come up with an awesome idea for a movie/book/tv show/blog that tells the real story of whats happening in a game of Life. Why did Bob lose his job as a doctor and become a hairstylist? Why did Mary sue Rachel for $100,000? How did Pete end up with four kids by age 30. And why are they always driving around in a goddam mini van? Wouldn't you like some peace and quiet!?
Anyways, departure is looming, and I've begun to allow myself to be excited. Still need good luck getting that Barcelona flight so send your well wishes my way. Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'm eating ham and drinking sangria and reminding people why they hate Americans.
(p.s. I just turned around and realized that my original flight from DC has arrived on time. Oh well. Someone send me $50 please.
